The honest answers.
If it is about privacy, we would rather over-explain than have you guess. Here is everything people ask us most, answered in full.
Yes. The Free plan gives everyone end-to-end encrypted chats, voice and video calls, voice notes, 24-hour status, community membership and channel following at no cost, with 500 MB of encrypted storage and files up to 30 MB each. Upgrade to Pro for 30 GB of storage, files up to 100 MB, longer status, your own channels and broadcasts. Business raises that to 100 GB, files up to 500 MB and status up to 7 days.
Encrypted media (photos, videos, voice notes, files) is stored as ciphertext so it can sync across your devices, and only that ciphertext counts toward your allowance. Each plan includes a storage allowance and a per-file maximum upload size: 500 MB and 30 MB per file on Free, 30 GB and 100 MB per file on Pro, and 100 GB and 500 MB per file on Business. You can upgrade at any time.
It means Coveton has no technical ability to read your messages. Encryption keys are generated and held on your devices; our servers only ever see encrypted ciphertext. Even under subpoena, we cannot produce readable conversation content because we never possess it.
Tamper alerts (on Pro and above) tell you what happens to your messages after you send them. When someone copies or forwards your message inside Coveton, you are notified, and we flag screenshots too, with a searchable history log of every event so you can look back at who did what and when. Screenshot detection is best-effort and strongest on mobile, so we never promise it is infallible, but copy and forward events inside the app are tracked reliably. Most messengers just deliver your message; Coveton tells you what happens to it.
Yes, on the Business plan. Export & back up your chats is a Business-only perk that lets you take an encrypted copy of your conversations with you. On Free and Pro your messages stay end-to-end encrypted and synced across your devices.
No. Coveton has no feeds, timelines, stories, followers, public profiles or likes. It is private communication for people and organizations, closer to a secure operating system than a social app.
Coveton uses proven, independently audited encryption that is trusted to protect billions of private conversations around the world. We never build encryption from scratch, because relying on cryptography that security experts have tested for years is far safer than inventing something new.
No. Administrators manage membership, devices, billing and policy, but message content remains end-to-end encrypted between participants. Admin power stops at metadata and governance, never plaintext.
Revoke it instantly from any other authorized device or from the admin dashboard. Because keys live on devices, removing a device cuts off its access immediately. You can link a new device by scanning a QR code from your phone.
There is no free trial. You start free and upgrade whenever you like. Free is free forever; Pro and Business are billed monthly and you can cancel at any time. Your media stays end-to-end encrypted on every plan, and only your ciphertext counts toward your storage allowance.
